Bone regeneration

Bone augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to replace missing bone tissue. It is used to repair defects caused by, amongst other things, surgical tooth extractions, cystic defects or bone fractures. To regenerate the missing bone tissue, osteoconductive, biomimetic biomaterials can be used to support the natural bone regeneration process.

If no bone-regenerative measures are taken, 40–60 per cent of the jawbone will be lost within the first two to three years following extraction.

Looking for bone augmentation materials? Take a look at BioComp’s range of bone regeneration materials.

If you wish to have an implant fitted following an extraction, it is important that there is sufficient jawbone to accommodate the implant. One advantage of reinforcing the jawbone is that the jaw will shrink less (and more slowly), which can also help to prevent other problems.

In addition to the patient’s own bone, you can use a bone substitute such as Osbone® for this purpose. This is a granulate made of non-resorbable, synthetic hydroxyapatite. It does not contain the cells and proteins found in the patient’s own bone, but is well suited for filling smaller defects and for longer-term healing processes. If you mix the bone substitutes with the patient’s own bone, the cells and growth factors present will ensure faster formation of new bone.

Downloads & documentation

You can find available instructions for use and other product documentation under ‘Downloads’. You must be logged in to the website to download IFUs.

Yes. On the download page, you can view a document online before downloading it. This allows you to check straight away whether the document contains the information you are looking for and then decide whether you want to download it.

The download page indicates which is the most recent version available for each document. This makes it easy for you to check whether the version you are using is still up to date. If a newer version is available, you can view it on the download page and, if you have access, download it.

Some of the documentation is only available to logged-in users. You will need a BioComp account to access items such as IFUs, price lists and digital libraries. If you do not yet have an account, you can request one via the login page or on the relevant document page.

Under Service → Cleaning & Maintenance, you will find information on the cleaning, disinfection, inspection and sterilisation of BioComp instruments. You can also consult the current general BioComp cleaning protocol there.

Order

No. The BioComp website is not (yet) an online shop where you can pay for your order directly online. Instead of a shopping basket, you use an order list. You add the products you wish to order to this list and then send your order to BioComp. Our office staff will then process your order.

Once you have submitted your order, you will receive a confirmation from the website stating that your order has been received. Our office staff will check and process the order and then send you the final order confirmation. As the order is processed further, you will also receive the relevant delivery note and invoice.

As payments are not processed directly on the BioComp website, the icon for the order list deliberately refers to an order form rather than a shopping basket. Once submitted, your order will be checked and processed by our office staff.

Please contact our office staff as soon as possible via sales@biocomp.eu or +31 (0)73 684 7200 if you wish to make a change to an order that has already been dispatched. Whether a change is still possible depends on the status of the order as processed by our back-office team.

Products & assortment

On the product page, for modular items, you can select the available variant—for example, based on length. Once you’ve made your selection, the details and SKU for the selected variant will be displayed. Please review this information before adding the product to your order list.

Are you looking for a specific item whose item number you know? If so, you can enter that item number—or part of it—into the search box next to the magnifying glass. Your item will appear in the search results.

Some BioComp products are listed on the website in a modular format. For example, if an implant is available in different lengths but the diameter remains the same, a single generic product is displayed. In the generic part number, the variable is indicated by “xx.” If you select a specific length, the corresponding product image and the full part number will appear under “SKU.”

You can find the part number on the product page under “Technical Specifications” in the “SKU” field. For modular products, the displayed part number may change once you select a specific product variant.

For example, a modular product is an implant with a single diameter that is available in 5 lengths. Select the length, and the part number will change.

That may well be the case. In addition to the range on our website, BioComp works with an extensive network of suppliers. If you cannot find the product you are looking for, please submit a request via ‘More information’. We will be happy to see if we can still supply the product in question for you.
